About us

The Reach Out Teachers Network was originally launched in 2007 in response to the growing need to support teachers to understand the mental health issues impacting on young people they were working with. The original Teachers Network site showcased stories from teachers and other school staff on how they had used the ReachOut.com website in their work.

The Teachers Network site was re-launched in 2010 with an expanded focus on delivering teachers more quality teaching resources for use in their work. The new site also includes an entire section devoted to online professional development and training to support teachers in schools to promote the mental health and wellbeing of their students.

The Reach Out Teachers Network provides educators with access to up-to-date information on a range of mental health issues that may affect the students they are working with as well as fact sheets on a wide range of issues that young people may experience that can impact on their health and wellbeing, including alcohol and drugs, sexuality, leaving home and cyberbullying.

Quality teaching modules and lesson ideas

The Reach Out Teachers Network provides teachers with free access to curriculum resources and lesson ideas on youth mental health and a range of other issues that may impact on the wellbeing of young people, including alcohol and drugs, homelessness, sexuality and cyberbullying.

Online training

Professional development: any time, any where

The Reach Out Teachers Network is an accredited professional development provider and has developed and delivered a range of training sessions at schools and conferences throughout Australia. The Network has developed a series of self-paced online training modules that you can view any time, any place.
