Adolescent health issues

Accessing health services

There are many services available to young people around Australia but there are some common issues which prevent young people from accessing these. Issues such as the stigma attached to accessing services, young people not knowing what to expect, fear and mistrust, accessibility, and young people who do not have enough, or who do not have correct information, about mental health and mental health services.

Making their journey as easy as possible will mean that they will not only get the help that they need, but will make it less confronting if they need more help in the future, and will mean that they can assist their peers with information.

The health care system differs from state to state and navigating services and finding the most appropriate help is not always easy. If you have a young person who requires assistance the information contained in this section of the website may provide you with some helpful guidance.
