How to use the Resources
section
This section of the Reach Out Teachers Network provides you with
information and resources that you can use to support your
teaching.
The Resources section is broken into five key
areas that teachers have identified as being valuable for improving
their understanding of youth mental health issues and confidence in
teaching about these issues in schools.
The Mental health disorders
section contains a brief description of a disorder or
issue, with links to further information and relevant research, and
a set of recommended ReachOut.com resources that can be used in your
classroom. These resources are specifically designed by young
people for young people. They include factsheets, personal stories,
videos and digital stories that have been developed by Reach Out
youth aambassadors for the ReachOut.com website. All of these resources
have been endorsed by our development partners and the Reach Out Clinical
Advisory Board.
The Adolescent health issues
section contains information about other common issues
that young people may experience as they go through adolescence.
Each of these issues again have links to further information and ReachOut.com
resources that you can recommend to your students or use in your
classroom.
The Teaching and learning modules
section provides easy access to a range of quality
curriculum units that have been developed by The Reach Out Teachers
Network in conjunction with development partners to
support the teaching of mental health issues and resilience in
schools. These resources are mapped to state and territory
curriculum and are free of charge.
The Lesson ideas section contains
easily accessible lesson activities that explore concepts linked to
promoting positive mental health and wellbeing for your students.
These activities can be incorporated into existing units of work or
can be used in pastoral care sessions or other extra curricular
programs.
The Professional
development opportunities section will provide you
with details of workshops, training and online seminars on offer to
support your work in schools. This section also includes archived
versions of previous online seminars that have been delivered by
the Reach Out Teachers Network.
If you have ideas for other resources that would be useful or
any professional development topics that you would like covered,
fill out the Feedback form to let us know and we will
endeavour to deliver them.
The resources recommended in this section have been produced by
