A Year 12 Student at Willunga
Waldorf School in South Australia shares what she organised to
support RUOK? Day this year.
I was looking at adolescence, in particular the 'Bright
sides of Adolescence'.
RUOK Day was an opportunity to share the kinds of
things I was working on with the school community. Earlier
this year I also used promotional products from reachout.com and
distributed them around the school. In looking at the bright sides
of being a teenager I was ultimately searching for preventions and
positive ways to deal with what faces us in adolescence and our
lives.
I spoke at the high school assembly about who/what is
ReachOut.com , as well as RUOK Day. Students dipped their hands in
red paint and in placing a hand on the paper they were pledging
to:
'keep an eye out for my
mates'.
RUOK Day lasted weeks and I
still see many people wearing the yellow wrist bands. I still hear
and see the students asking each other 'Are you okay' whist
pointing to their wrist bands.
RUOK Day has weaved its way, with the help of Reach Out,
into the wider school community.
